Just 10 minutes walk or 2 minutes drive from Boatshed Motel Apartments. Mount Maunganui Hot Salt Water Pools
Visit the only Salt Water Hot Pools in the Southern Hemisphere, right here at the base of Mount Maunganui. Enjoy a 32 degree pool, spa pools, kid’s pool and private heated pools. A great place to relax, especially in the evening, with the stars as your canopy.

Swimming, Surfing and Fishing at the Beach
The Boatshed Motel and Apartments is just a few minutes’ walk from the surf beach. Bring your togs and head down to the beach for the day. Take your boogie board or surf board, and ride the waves. On a flat day, take your surf caster and catch dinner. Bring it back and cook it on your personal barbeque at Boatsheds Motel Apartments. Our beach has beautiful views of Mount Maunganui and is stunning at any time of the day.

Baypark is the centre for all Bay of Plenty large sporting and feature events, such as the annual Home Show and the Motor Show. It is also home to the Bay Park Speedway. If your planning on going to an event at Bay Park, Boatshed Motel Apartments is within
walking distance.

Festivals
Around Easter time, Tauranga hosts New Zealand’s largest Jazz Festival. This year the festival presented over 20 bands on more than 7 stages. This is an exciting event for anyone with a love of music.
Markets
There is an assortment of great markets for all those bargain hunters! Every Sunday from 9am-1pm is the Mount Maunganui Farmers Market, held in Phoenix Car Park, Mount Maunganui. The 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month is the Papamoa Flea Market, held at Palm Beach Plaza, Papamoa. On the 3rd Saturday of each month is the Te Puke Market, held at the Te Puke Memorial Hall.

Blokarting
Visit the home of the world wide land yacht phenomenon, Blokart, right here in the Bay of Plenty. Just a 10 minute drive to Papamoa is the Blokarts racing track, where you and your friends and family can master the skill of sailing your way around the track. This New Zealand company has turned Blokarting into a sport, enjoyed by hundreds of people from all over the world.
Swim with the Dolphins
We often see dolphins swimming along the beach from our suites at the Boatshed Motel Apartments. The Bay of Plenty area offers a range of ‘swim with the dolphins’ options. Simply ask at reception and we will be more than happy to recommend a ‘swim with the dolphins’ tour guide and book your activity for you.

Surfing Lessons
If you want to learn to surf like the pros, head down to the legendary Mount surfer’s hub, ‘Tay Street’. Hire a board or take a full surfing lesson with one of the local surfing heroes. In no time you’ll be riding the waves like a professional!

Marshalls Animal Park
Set in the Kaimai ranges next to McLaren Falls, is Marshalls Animal Farm Park, with 35 acres of farm and bush land. Take a day out from the beach and visit the animals here at this family park. Bottle feed the lambs, piglets and kids and hand feed the llamas, goats, and birds. For a fun activity treat the kids to a pony ride, or for a little excitement, try the flying fox!
Horse Trekking
The Bay of Plenty offers some amazing horse treks, in some of New Zealand’s most beautiful locations. One amazing horse riding experience is in Maketu, just south of Mount Maunganui. Take a trek down the beach in Maketu, while taking in breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the Bay of Plenty’s surrounding hills.
